welcome friends to a space where i share my thoughts and get vulnerable with my feelings in a biblical way. it’s july 19th and i began to ponder a question in my mind. this is often who i am — i’m a deep thinker and often blarring with curiousity. a question that crept into my mind just now is this — “what does the word set apart mean and how does it apply to being a Believer?” using my own subjective opinion and reason, i’d like to tackle this question. so friends let’s talk about what being set apart means and how it applies to being a believer.

“what does the word set apart mean and how does it apply to being a Believer?”

targeting a topic like this involves many different layers and a lot of my own subjectiveness but here i go. to the bible being “set apart” means not ‘conforming to the world” but being transformed and “discerned by God’s perfect will” (Romans 12:2). i’ve always found this difficult to follow through with and for that i am sorry Jesus. i fall short on this a lot. a lot of times conforming to this world may be the easiest thing. conforming to the latest trends and doing what’s superficial instead of what’s eternal. believe me i think we’ve all been caught in that trap once or twice before. for me — i was caught in wanting approval and satisfication from other people and not realizing my true identity in Him. it’s been a struggle but i evantually came to the truth that no other person can compare to the satisification that our Heavenly Father brings. how does this all tie in you ask? because when we set ourselves apart from the world, we think differently and we think in a more “Jesus” orientated way.

“I do not ask that you take them out of the world, but that you keep them from the evil one. They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth. As you sent me into the world, so I have sent them into the world.” (john 17:15-18)

as christians — temptation is at every corner. temptation is a tool from the devil used to drive you away from God. but let us not give in. let’s SET OURSELVES APART from the worldly affairs of the world and conform our selves to the ways of Christ. when we are set apart in the name of Jesus, we are living for a new purpose. we aren’t living for the intent of temporary gain but we are living for eternal gain. what is that eternal gain? a chance to experience Heaven with our wondrous Savior. let me tell you… Heaven is far better than this world can compare to being.

Yes — my friends — being apart from the world can be tough and involves mental willpower but we gain so much eternally from being in Christ. that, to me, is far more benefically than “partying with the world.” So set yourself apart from the wicked things and surround yourself with more Jesus orientated things. I’m rooting for you.
